Juan Carlos Borrero, Director/Co-Producer of “HER” Documentary

Juan is a filmmaker from Colombia where he began his career as a Cinematographer. His first film “Ananeko” won the best documentary award at the Bogota Film Festival and he was a special guest in Toronto and Havana Film Festivals. After relocating to New York, he was part of the crew for the documentaries, “The Hand of Fatima in Morroco,” “Wham Bam Islam in the Middle East and the U.S.,” “The Loss, and The American Coup,” among others. Juan worked on a web series for GQ Magazine and Vice in the Emmy-nominated series Casualties of the Gridiron. He also participated in the making of a series of documentaries about the civilians and the conflict in Colombia featuring Putchy Pu Pastor de Palabras and a PBS documentary about the smuggling of tobacco in Aruba and South America. Juan also worked on “Contravia,” an award-winning TV program in Cartagena about political issues in Colombia sponsored by the EU. More recently, he was the Cinematographer of the award-winning feature film “BRUCE” (ABFF Grand Jury Prize) and the short film, “Secret” which was an official selection of Indy Fest. Currently Juan is the Director, Cinematographer and Co-Producer of “A Call For Peace” documentary.

Courtney Martin is a self-taught professional photographer who has been capturing life through her lens since 2016. She began as a hobbyist but quickly found personal fulfillment in framing and capturing beautiful moments. She serves her local community in Raleigh, North Carolina by providing family, wedding and fashion photography services while also participating in various freelance projects. Henry is a lifelong New Yorker, born in Brooklyn, raised in Flushing, Queens and now residing in Jericho, Long Island. He is a graduate of Queens College with post graduate studies at Princeton, Robert College in Istanbul and New York University. At age 21 he spent two years in Turkey representing the United States in the Peace Corps as an educator and community development specialist. He was a member of the NYC Board of Education and taught English as a Second Language, creating his own curriculum, in addition to being a team member in the Career Guidance program, dealing with the most difficult students in a Junior High School in Corona, Queens. He was a founder of a chain of community newspapers, the Queens Tribune. Henry also established a full-service advertising agency, working with a number of high-profile clients, and continues to provide advertising and marketing services to businesses and organizations. After running several other media, Henry became the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the Jewish Post and continues in that capacity. Henry has been a member of the American Jewish Press Association, New York Press Association and is a UN correspondent for many years. He has devoted his energy to a number of charities and organizations and has most recently become a board member of Voices for Truth and Humanity, a non-profit organization fighting hate and anti-Semitism.

After moving to New York at 18, Melodie finished her international degree at the Lycee Francais of New York LFNY and commenced her undergraduate degree at Columbia University. Shortly after graduating, she began a master’s degree at Baruch College and graduated with a Masters in Business and Corporate Communication. While studying, Melodie started working with entities such as the UN. Over the past seven years of professional experience at this same organization, advancing and gaining responsibilities, Melodie joined American Television News as Director of Communications at the United Nations but also managed teams and edited internal UN affiliated publications, conducted interviews with Ambassadors of various UN Missions and Consulates and wrote various articles and press releases. Melodie also produced marketing and promotional videos for numerous UN organizations, UN Missions and affiliates over the past several years and was recognized for her professionalism internationally. During her years in the international arena and thanks to her strong experience in international business and diplomacy, Melodie had the honor and privilege to meet and consult for some of the most prestigious families around the world. Melodie considers herself an expert in international business and diplomatic exchange, which gave her the opportunity to start her new role as Producer and Director of this documentary. Melodie is also currently a Producer with the Associated Press and is in charge of all logistical aspects and interviews for the documentary.

Macdavis Mwangi, Drone Operator, Aerial Filming and Photography 

Macdavis Mwangi started off at The Daystar University where he graduated with a diploma in Communication majoring in Electronic Media & Journalism shortly followed by attaining a Degree in Communication majoring in Electronic Media & Advertising which lead to him developing graphic design skills by building up small business brands. While studying, Macdavis worked as an intern at Ghetto Radio and, K24 Television/Media Max Ltd as a sports reporter collecting and disseminating local breaking news. After graduating, his passion for filming and drones developed in 2015 with Microdrone Africa, where he has learned how to operate and successfully use drones for a wide variety of projects. He is now astute videographer, drones and gimbals operator and quite adept at cinematography and photography. Macdavis is a creative guru with a keen eye for aerial cinematography, film and photography.
